Stained Glass and Stopmotion Installation. Seven 20" panels, hand drawn animation.

This stained glass installation was inspired by Sefer Yetizrah, a Jewish mystical telling of the Creation story. Sefer Yetzirah describes the reorganization of existing matter, in contrast to the creation from thin air as described in Genesis.

Seven stained glass pieces symbolize the days of creation. The shifting relationship between colored, clear and textured glass represents the transformation discussed in Sefer Yeztirah. The moving shapes in the stopmotion resemble creatures, another manifestation of evolution. The projection of the stopmotion illuminates the glass and the space around it, adding another layer of transformation.
